Originally born in Dracula’s kingdom, Transylvania – Romania, Calgary-based Soprano Anca Boieru is proud and happy to share her great knowledge and passion for music. Anca holds a Fellowship Music Performance Diploma – FTCL – with the Trinity Guildhall College, London, England, an International Diploma in Music Performance – LTCL – and an Advanced Certificate in Singing with the Trinity Guildhall College, London, England (both with Distinctions), as well as an Advance Certificate in Voice with The Royal Conservatory of Music, Toronto.
Anca has played many different vocal roles such as Josephine in ‘HMS’, Sorge in ‘Faust’, Cinderella in ‘Into The Woods’, Cunegonde in ‘Candide’; she was also part of the ensemble choir in ‘The Sorcerer’, following the audition process, at the Ardingly International Music School (AIMS), hosted in Eastbourne, England. She also performed different other characters such as Dido in ‘Dido and Aeneas’, Cleopatra in ‘Giulio Cesare’, Violeta in ‘La Traviata’, Mimi in ‘La Boheme’, and The Queen of the Night in ‘The Magic Flute’, Rusalka in ‘Rusalka’, Lucy in ‘The Telephone’, in short opera productions at the Leacock Theatre of the Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada.
Anca was also awarded in recognition of outstanding contributions to the Community, three years in a row, because she was invited to perform the Canadian National Anthem on Canada Day Events.
Anca is a very active member of the Calgarian stage, participating at various events such as ONE benefitting the Calgary SCOPE Society, ‘The Best Of Me’ benefiting the Calgary Humane Society, Calgary European Film Festival Gala, Mrs. Calgary 2013 Christmas Charity Gala, sacred music concert No Stone Unturned – 1st Annual Fundraising Banquet, 8th Annual Fundraising Dinner Gala Event – ECO Village of Hope Society, and many more. In December 2013, Anca was cast in the benefit song for Philippines typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan, ‘Strong’, composed by Hollywood producer Andrew Lane.
In order to build a vocal versatility, Anca is constantly focusing to train to achieve a strong vocal technique suitable for various genres ranging from Opera to Musical Theatre, Classical Cross-over, Pop or Folk. Therefore the wide-ranging repertoire is allowing Anca to entertain her audience with a real musical adventure. Anca is also an active member of Wendy Lumby Talent Agency ‘Faces of Wendy’ and participates in various workshops.
